Nayanthara made headlines after her documentary on Netflix made headlines. In the documentary, Nayanthara shared a lot of anecdotes about her life. However, to everyone’s surprise, Dhanush slammed the actress for using a BTS clip from his film. After this, Nayanthara hit back at Dhanush with an open letter.
Nayanthara’s lawyer revealed that there is no infringement or violation as it is part of the actress’ personal library
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Nayanthara’s lawyer revealed that they have responded to Dhanush’s legal notice and that no copyright laws were violated. Nayanthara and husband, Vignesh Shivan’s lawyer, Rahul Dhawan shared that their production house Rowdy Pictures Pvt. Ltd., revealed:
“Our response is that there is no infringement or violation because what has been utilised by us in the docu series is not part of behind-the-scenes (from the film). The same is part of personal library, Therefore this is not infringement.”
Nayanthara bashed Dhanush through her open letter after he demanded Rs. 10 crore for copyright infringement
It seems like Dhanush was unhappy with Nayanthara, who added a three-second BTS clip to her Netflix documentary. He demanded Rs. 10 crore as he hit back at her with a legal notice under the Copyright Infringement Act. Nayanthara didn’t take it lightly and issued a three-page-long letter. She was shocked by the demand of Dhanush as the BTS video was available in the public domain.
Nayanthara, further in her letter, revealed how Dhanush is portrayed as gentle in front of the audience, but he is not in reality. Nayanthara tagged many of Dhanush’s co-stars and most of them supported the actress for sharing her side of the story. However, there were many, who called it a PR game.
Dhanush’s legal team reacted to Nayanthara’s open letter
After Nayanthara issued the open letter against Dhanush, the latter’s legal team issued a statement. They asked the OTT giant Netflix to remove the three-second clip they had used from Dhanush’s film in their documentary. They even gave them 24 hours to remove the clip. The statement could be read as:
“Advice your client to take down the content infringing my client’s copyright over the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan by using the same in your client’s documentary named Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against your client and Netflix India.”
Nayanthara and Dhanush ignored each other at a producer’s wedding
In the last few weeks, Kollywood lovers have witnessed one of the biggest and ugliest feuds between the top celebrities in the industry. Nayanthara and Dhanush’s ugly name-calling has left everyone shocked. Amidst it, the two were spotted at producer, Aakash Baskaran’s wedding in Chennai.
At the event, Dhanush and Nayanthara were both sitting in the front row of the opposite aisles. While there wasn’t much difference, they did their best to ignore each other and not even try to look at one another. Let us remind you that this marks the first appearance of Nayanthara and Dhanush after the former’s explosive open letter.
