Andrew Flintoff’s son Rocky Flintoff in England Under-19 squad for series against Sri Lanka | cricket news

Andrew Flintoff’s son Rocky Flintoff has been included in the England U19 ODI squad for the first time for their series against Sri Lanka this summer.

The 16-year-old has recently impressed playing for Lancashire’s second XI, making his first century against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, finishing with a total of 116 runs.

The strong knock against Warwickshire came after a solid half-century against Durham in just his second match for the team, for which he has only played three times.

Rocky made his debut for Lancashire’s second XI against Yorkshire earlier this year, just after turning 16, and has batted alongside his older brother Corey in their line-up.

Luc Benkenstein, son of Lancashire head coach Dale Benkenstein, will captain the England Under-19 team during the series.

England Men’s U19 coach Mike Yardy said: “We have selected an exciting team for the series, with a mix of some players currently playing in Vitality Blast and some younger players for whom it will be their first time in an U19 team.

“As always, it is a great opportunity for players to play in the England U19 jersey and experience international cricket.”

Andrew Flintoff is currently part of the coaching team for England’s T20 World Cup campaign, which continues on Thursday 13 June when they take on Oman from 7.30pm, live on Sky Sports.
