Apple iPhone 17 launch event: What to expect

Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event is just days away, and this year’s keynote is shaping up to be more than a routine upgrade. Alongside the iPhone 17 lineup, rumors are swirling about a brand-new ultra-thin model that could steal the show — plus updates to Apple Watch, AirPods, and maybe even more.

📱 iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Cameras Get a Big Boost

Leaked renders suggest the Pro models will sport bold, Google Pixel–style camera bars housing three 48MP sensors. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says we can also expect a sharper 24MP selfie camera, Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, and 12GB of RAM (up from 8GB).

The Pro Max might be slightly thicker to fit a bigger battery, while both Pro models could ditch titanium for a lighter aluminum frame. Color options reportedly include silver, black, navy blue, and orange.

📱 iPhone 17 Air: The Thinnest iPhone Ever?

Apple may finally bring its “Air” branding to the iPhone. The rumored iPhone 17 Air could be just 5.5mm thin, with a 6.6-inch ProMotion display and Dynamic Island. It’s expected to feature a single 48MP rear camera, the standard A19 chip, and Apple’s first in-house modem (minus mmWave 5G support).

No SIM slot is likely, but it may include the Camera Control button introduced on the iPhone 16. Despite its slim profile, Bloomberg says battery life should match current iPhones. Price? Around $900, with colors in black, silver, gold, and light blue.

📱 iPhone 17: Subtle Looks, Serious Upgrades

The base iPhone 17 may look familiar but could finally get a 120Hz ProMotion display and a slightly larger 6.3-inch screen. It will run on the A19 chip and might replace the “Plus” model entirely with the new Air variant. Expected price: $800, in pink, green, blue, white, and black.

⌚ Apple Watch Ultra 3: Text Without a Signal

Apple’s rugged Watch Ultra 3 could debut with satellite texting, letting you send messages without Wi-Fi or cellular. It may also feature a larger display, 5G RedCap support, and a new high blood pressure alert.

The Watch Series 11 and SE 3 are also expected, though the SE likely won’t switch to a plastic case after all. Performance upgrades may be minimal, as leaked code suggests the new S11 chip shares architecture with recent models.

🎧 AirPods Pro 3: Now With Heart Rate Tracking

Apple’s next-gen AirPods Pro could monitor your heart rate — a feature already seen in the Powerbeats Pro 2. They may also get a new H3 chip and a smaller charging case without a pairing button. A design refresh is rumored but unconfirmed.

🔮 What Else Could Be Coming?

Not everything may make the September 9 stage. Rumors point to:

  • Vision Pro 2 with a faster M4 or M5 chip
  • M5 iPad Pro with dual orientation cameras
  • Updates on Apple Intelligence and an AI-powered Siri, possibly using tech from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google

If these leaks are accurate, Apple’s 2025 event could be one of its most ambitious in years — with the iPhone 17 Air leading a wave of bold design changes.
