Bahrain-bound Air India express flight returns to Cochin airport after tyre trouble

NEW DELHI: A Bahrain-bound Air India Express flight was “called back”shortly after departing from Cochin International Airport on Tuesday due to suspected tyre trouble, according to a Cochin Airport spokesperson.
The technical concern was identified moments after the aircraft became airborne. The flight crew received instructions to return to Cochin Airport as a safety precaution to protect the passengers.
The airport authorities were making necessary arrangements to ensure the aircraft could land safely, the official told news agency PTI.
Further details on the incident are awaited.
Earlier on Sunday, a helpline at Mumbai International Airport received two consecutive calls from a woman warning of a “major problem” and urging the cancellation of a Mumbai-Delhi flight.
The Sahar Police were notified, and an FIR was registered. The calls, which appeared to be a hoax, were traced to a location in Andheri East, within the police station’s jurisdiction, but the caller could not be located.
