A fight late last month in central Phoenix has resulted in the death of a man in his 60s, prompting homicide detectives to take over the investigation.

Police reported that around 4 p.m. on Dec. 30, officers responded to a fight near 13th Avenue and Sherman Street, where they found an injured man. The victim, identified as 65-year-old Lincoln Guest, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life-threatening.

Guest was under medical care until he died from his injuries on Tuesday, according to police. On Thursday, the Office of the Medical Examiner ruled Guest’s death a homicide, police said.

Police gave no name or description of the suspect.

“Homicide detectives have now assumed the investigation. Additional details related to this incident remain part of the ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement.
