An 88-year-old woman is dead after a driver plowed his car into the side of a Gilbert senior care facility, according to Gilbert police.
Around 9:55 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a call near the 700 block of Lindsay Road after a vehicle collision was reported.
The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old male, collided into the side of the building and fled the scene after the accident.
The woman inside the unit that was hit was declared dead when officers found her.
He was later found and arrested. Authorities have not identified the suspect.
Based on preliminary information, impairment does appear to be a factor, according to the Gilbert Police Department.
