The creator of Apple TV+’s hit thriller Hijack is back — and this time, he’s diving straight into the cutthroat world of high-stakes law.

George Kay, the writer behind Hijack, Lupin and Criminal, has teamed up with HBO and Sky for a brand-new legal drama titled War. The networks are so confident in the show, they’ve already given it a two-season order.

At the center of War is Dominic West (The Crown) as tech mogul Morgan Henderson and Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal) as his estranged wife, glamorous international movie star Carla Duval. Their explosive divorce case sets off a chain reaction that shakes up London’s elite legal circles — sending shockwaves through boardrooms, bedrooms, and courtrooms alike.

The series pits two of London’s most powerful rival law firms — Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne — against each other in what’s being billed as “the divorce case of the century.” But as the drama unfolds, alliances fracture, reputations crumble, and everyone is fighting to come out on top.

Adding to the buzz, this isn’t the first time West and Miller have worked together. The duo first shared the stage in 2005 in a British adaptation of As You Like It and later appeared together in Burberry campaigns.

War is designed as an anthology, with a fresh legal battle each season. Season one will also feature Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens and Archie Renaux.

Ben Taylor (Catastrophe) will direct, while Kay serves as showrunner. The series is being produced by New Pictures (Catherine the Great) alongside Kay’s Observatory Pictures.

Executive producers include Kay, Taylor, Willow Grylls, Matt Sandford, Susan Breen, Andrea Dewsbury and Megan Spanjian.

The show will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max in the U.S. and Australia, while Sky will broadcast it across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will handle international sales.

Sharing his excitement, Kay said:

“I am thrilled to be working with Sky and HBO – two homes for bold, ambitious storytelling – and our brilliant production team. War is a legal drama full of double crossing, scandal, twists and betrayal. The kind of TV show that made me want to write TV shows.”
