The Centre is set to introduce 15 bills in the upcoming winter session of Parliament which will commence on Monday. These legislations include the waqf law amendment bill and 5 other legislations. The session will conclude on December 20.
Here are some of the bills that are listed for the session:
The Waqf (amendment) Bill is scheduled for consideration and passage once the joint committee of both Houses submits its report to the Lok Sabha. It is mandatory for the panel to submit its report on the last day of the first week of the winter session.
Merchant shipping,coastal shipping and Indian ports bill
Another new draft law proposed by the government is the Merchant shipping bill, which aims to ensure India’s compliance with its obligations under maritime treaties to which New Delhi is a signatory. Additionally, the coastal shipping bill and the Indian ports bill have also been scheduled for introduction and eventual passage.
The five new draft legislations will also include the one to set up a cooperative university. As many as eight bills, including the Waqf (amendment) bill and the Mussalman Wakf (repeal) bill are pending in Lok Sabha. The remaining two others are with Rajya Sabha.
