LG Sinha leads Preamble pledge as J&K celebrates Constitution Day for first time
Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating the ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ on Tuesday for the first time since 1950 when the country’s Constitution was adopted by Parliament.

SRINAGAR: The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir marked a historic first since its accession to India in 1947, as it celebrated the Constitution Day on Tuesday to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on Nov 26, 1950.
Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha led senior officers in reading the Preamble in the civil secretariat. In a post on X, the LG said: “Greetings on Constitution Day. Tributes to the makers of our Constitution. On this momentous occasion, I call upon all to uphold the sanctity of Constitution & further strengthen principles of social justice, equality and let’s devote ourselves to peace & progress of the society (sic.).”
The assembly speaker administered the Preamble pledge in the House to mark the occasion. Preamble reading ceremonies were held in govt offices, PSUs, educational institutes and other institutions across J&K.
PM Narendra Modi referred to J&K in his speech at an event marking the Constitution Day celebrations at the Supreme Court, saying the Constitution had now been fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
