Fire ripping through Los Angeles County sounded “like a warzone”, according to a resident.

People at an evacuation centre in Pasadena also described watching flames engulf their neighbourhoods as they made a swift escape from Altadena, where the Eaton fire has taken hold.

There are at least five active fires in the county and neighbouring regions.
