Raj Thackeray's son Amit finishes third in Mahim poll debut

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit, only the second Thackeray to contest an election after MLA cousin Aaditya, lost from Mahim by over 17,000 votes in poll debut.
Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Mahesh Sawant won the Mahim seat with 50,213 votes. Incumbent Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar received 48,897 votes, while Amit got 33,062 votes. Celebrations erupted for Sawant at Shivaji Park, heart of the undivided Shiv Sena and home to Sena Bhavan – Uddhav-headed Sena UBT’s headquarters.
