Ryan Garcia He is not retiring… says the boxing superstar sports will not satisfy his detractors. So when he finishes his one-year suspension, King Ry will be back in the ring!
But, until then… he’s ready to fight somewhere else besides the ring.
We caught up with Garcia, 25, who was in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, where we asked Ryan about the punishment handed down by the New York State Athletic Commission, whether he was truly retired and whether he was serious about fighting in MMA.
Regarding the suspension and the recovery of more than a million dollars, García, who also saw his victory taken away and changed to a “no contest”, said the following…
“It hurts. (Devin) is a ‘b’ and his dad is a ‘b’. The only reason I’m not swearing is because my daughter is here,” Ryan said of Haney’s father-son combination .
Last week, García, 25-1 (with 1 NC), announced that he was retiring of boxing. We asked him if he intended to retire permanently, that is, never box professionally again.
“I’m going to retire for a year. So they don’t get the (satisfaction) of suspending me because it’s stupid. I never took steroids in my life. Everyone can be shit.”
As part of his retirement announcement, Ryan said he was going to the UFC. We asked him if he was serious about MMA.
“I like ‘Suga’ Sean (O’Malley) because he defended me (after cheating accusations). But if he really wants to run in the UFC, I will do it. Or with bare knuckles. “Shit, I’m ready to fight anyone right now.”
Of course, Ryan is not signed with the UFC… but Dana BlancoHe is an astute businessman (he successfully Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor in a different sport), and García vs. O’Malley, his fight for the bantamweight championship would be huge.
