NEW DELHI: Pushpa lead actor Allu Arjun will spend the night in jail and will be released Saturday morning.
Chanchalguda jail authorities confirmed to TOI that actor Allu Arjun will not be released tonight. “He will be released tomorrow morning,” said a jail official.
The jail authorities received the “bail order late in the night and as per jail manual there are restrictions on release of prisoners during the nights”.
He was lodged in Manjeera block as Special Class status given by Nampally court that remanded him earlier.
This comes as the Telugu superstar got bail by the high court earlier hours after getting arrested in Hyderabad.
He was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the premiere of his blockbuster “Pushpa 2: The Rule” but granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court.
Earlier in the day, police arrived at the national award-winning actor’s residence, leading to a tense situation as he was seen disputing with an officer and protesting their entry into his bedroom.
“It is definitely not a good thing,” he was heard saying.
In an unexpected turn of events that startled his supporters and the public, the acclaimed actor was transported to Chikkadpally police station in an official vehicle.
Following his appearance at the Nampally court, he received a 14-day judicial custody order and was transferred to prison with substantial security measures.
On December 4, a tragic incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad when a 39-year-old woman lost her life and her eight-year-old son required hospitalisation. The incident happened during a chaotic situation as crowds gathered to see the actor at the film’s premiere.
The city police filed charges at Chikkadpally police station against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and theatre management under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint from the deceased woman’s relatives.
On December 11, Allu Arjun petitioned the Telangana High Court to dismiss the FIR registered against him.
After the local court ordered his judicial custody on Friday, the high court granted him four weeks of interim bail and scheduled the next hearing for January 21, 2025.
