For years, Kim Kardashian has claimed that her biggest “superpower” is her calmness. Now, she and Khloé Kardashian have revealed why that might be the case.
If you’ve been watching this season of The KardashiansYou may know that Kim recently decided to get therapy to help her develop stricter boundaries at home with her children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
Kim has historically been reluctant to seek therapy, but in recent episodes we’ve seen that she’s already finding it helpful. And this week, she spoke to Khloé about a recent development.
“So I went back to see a therapist,” Kim told her sister. “She told me: You think calm is your superpower. I think you’re so desensitized to trauma that you’re literally frozen in fight or flight. Then she said, Once in your life, something happened and you remained calm, and that worked for you, that’s why you will always choose calm..”
Before Kim could say anything else, Khloé was quick to suggest that the robbery in Paris may have been the traumatic event that sparked her change of heart.
In October 2016, Kim was robbed at gunpoint by a group of masked men who broke into her Paris hotel room while she was alone. The intruders stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from her and Kim has since described the ordeal as “seven or eight minutes of torture.”
Speaking now about the robbery, Khloé suggested the ordeal greatly changed the way Kim approaches dealing with trauma and stress.
Kim considered this and, in her confessional, spoke further about the lasting repercussions of the traumatic experience.
The Kardashians It will be available to watch on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally. The season five finale will premiere on July 25.
