Atul Subhash is the name that has shaken the entire community of men with the details he has shared about his married life on social media. The Bengaluru-based techie committed suicide on December 9, 2024. The techie left behind a 90-minute video and a 24-page suicide note in which he shared every single detail of the conflict, due to which he decided to end his life. Atul Subhash blamed his wife, Nikita Singhania, her mother, Nisha Singhania, her uncle, Sushil Singhania and her brother, Anurag Singhania.

The unfortunate death of a 34-year-old Bengaluru techie has once again moved the spotlight on India’s divorce laws, which are a bit biased for a large section of the male community. Days after Atul Subhash’s case became a national topic, some netizens recalled Rishi Trivedi’s suicide case. As soon as the chilling story of Rishi Trivedi’s divorce case came under the spotlight, people went numb.

Just like Atul Subhash, a cab driver named Rishi Trivedi also recorded a video in which he shared how he had lost all hopes of getting justice from the judiciary, which was why he had decided to end his life.

Now, if we talk about Rishi Trivedi, he was originally from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya and used to work in Delhi as a cab driver. According to a report in Firstpost, Rishi used to work 12 to 14 hours daily to make ends meet.

After Rishi Trivedi committed suicide, his doting brother, Omji Trivedi started a campaign on Twitter to seek justice for his late brother. In one of his videos, Omji Trivedi revealed that only four days after his brother, Rishi’s marriage with his sister-in-law, Shikha Awasthi, she was caught stealing their family jewellery. When the family opposed her actions, Shikha threatened the whole family to file false cases against them. Scared of this, Rishi’s brother and parents couldn’t say anything to Shikha.

As time passed, things got more and more frightening, as Shikha Awasthi stopped cooking food for her husband, Rishi Trivedi, as per his brother, Omji Trivedi. According to Omji, when his mother started giving food to his elder brother, Shikha stopped her and warned her not to give him food and let him starve. Shikha also demanded Rs. 5 lakhs, so Rishi had to work 12-14 hours; otherwise, she would threaten to file false cases against him, according to Omji.

One of the most heartbreaking revelations that shocked most of the people in Rishi Trivedi’s traumatic story is when his wife, Shikha Awasthi, threw a saree on her husband and told him to commit suicide. As per Omji Trivedi, Shikha insulted his brother, Rishi, in public and told him to commit suicide. After numerous tortures, disrespect, and public humiliation, Rishi went out of Delhi in his cab and committed suicide by hanging himself with the same saree that his wife, Shikha Awasthi, gave to him. What’s heartbreaking is that even after Ravi’s death, there has been no action taken against Shikha, and still, his family members are getting dragged into false cases.

According to Omji Trivedi, when his family was preparing for the last rites of his brother, Rishi Trivedi, even at that painful moment, Shikha Awasthi came to their residence and demanded Rs. 7 lakhs. She even stopped the family from doing Rishi’s last rites and warned them of false cases, as per Omji Trivedi. When Omji was asked whether he had filed any police complaint against Shikha, he said the system had ignored his complaint. So far, there has been no major development in Rishi Trivedi’s case, and the family is still pleading for justice.
