A24 Releases Full Trailer for Nathan Fielder’s Elizabeth Holmes Documentary You Can See Everything

A24 released the full-length trailer for You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary about disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, on September 23. The film opens in theaters on October 16.

The trailer runs two minutes and 20 seconds. It shows Fielder living with Holmes, her husband Billy Evans, and their two children in the weeks before Holmes reported to prison in May 2023 to begin an 11-year sentence for fraud.

What the Trailer Shows

In one scene, Fielder asks Holmes directly: ‘You really feel you did nothing wrong?’ Holmes replies: ‘I do not.’

In another moment, Holmes tells Fielder it took her ‘a really long time to be okay with letting someone see me cry,’ before a single tear runs down her cheek.

The trailer also includes Fielder questioning Evans about his relationship with Holmes. ‘Weren’t you worried she was sort of scamming you?’ Fielder asks. ‘100 per cent, but what did she have to gain from me?’ Evans replies. Fielder then asks: ‘Well, isn’t your family rich?’ Evans responds: ‘Yeah, I think that there’s a lot of different levels of wealth.’

Production and Festival Run

The documentary was filmed in secret over three years. It follows Holmes during the 34 days before she entered prison and continues into the early weeks of her incarceration.

The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 6. It will have its New York premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 30 at Alice Tully Hall, with Fielder and Oppenheim in attendance.

The official logline from A24 reads: ‘Thirty-four days before she’s sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move. What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss.’

The documentary runs 174 minutes. It is co-directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, whose previous work includes the 2024 documentary Ren Faire.

Critical Response

Early reviews from Telluride have been strong. Variety critic Owen Gleiberman described the film as ‘a one-of-a-kind reality-TV-as-hangout-movie psychodrama circus.’

The Hollywood Reporter’s Angie Han wrote that the film ‘begins as a fascinatingly intimate portrait of a deluded or disingenuous scammer’ and ‘reveals as something even wilder, more ambitious and less predictable.’

RogerEbert.com called it ‘like no other film I’ve ever experienced’ and ‘compulsively watchable.’

The film remains on track for its October 16 theatrical release from A24.
