Salesforce has restored its global services after a widespread outage disrupted customers during the second day of its annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco on Wednesday. The company confirmed the resolution in a status update, and services began returning to normal across all affected regions by late morning Eastern time.

The outage began around 3:50 a.m. Eastern time, leaving customers unable to access parts of Salesforce’s cloud software suite. According to the company’s status page, users across all three operating regions experienced severe delays, intermittent errors, or a complete inability to access certain services.

Root Cause and Resolution

Salesforce said initial investigations showed customer requests were stalling while waiting for responses from an internal login service. This bottleneck exhausted critical server resources and stalled the platform’s ability to handle incoming traffic. The company later attributed the disruption to an increased load on a core system component that severely limited processing capacity.

By 6:56 a.m. Eastern time, Salesforce reported that its engineering team had identified a fix, tested it in a controlled environment, and verified it resolved the issue. The company then began deploying the fix across all regions.

Salesforce maintained communication through its status page throughout the event. By 11:27 UTC, the remediation process was underway across all impacted regions, and users began reporting that services were returning to normal functionality.

Stock Impact and Investor Briefing

Salesforce stock dipped Wednesday ahead of an investor briefing scheduled after the market close. Shares fell more than 2% to $250.10 in midday trading. The stock had already fallen 1.5% on Tuesday. Salesforce stock has been volatile in 2026, with shares down about 5% for the year.

The outage coincided with Dreamforce, Salesforce’s flagship annual technology conference. First held in 2003, the event has grown into one of the company’s most important commercial and marketing platforms.

AI Announcements Continue at Dreamforce

Despite the outage, Salesforce used the conference to unveil AIforce, a software interface layer that brings its data, workflows, and AI agents into Anthropic’s Claude system, Slack, and other workplace tools. The company also introduced Koa, built on Nvidia’s open-source Nemotron AI model technology. Koa has been trained with decades of Salesforce customer relationship management data.

Stifel analyst J. Parker Lane said in a report that the company delivered a compelling vision for AIforce during the keynote, with ready-to-try capabilities available to customers today. The analyst noted that this differed from prior years when demoed capabilities were not yet ready for production environments.

Ongoing Business Transition

Salesforce is transitioning from a software-as-a-service business model to consumption-based pricing for AI agents. Heading into the investor briefing, management reaffirmed guidance for reacceleration in organic revenue growth in the second half of 2026.

Salesforce stock rallied following the company’s second-quarter earnings report and signs that its AI strategy has gained traction. The company posted revenue of $11.35 billion in its fiscal second quarter, up 11% year over year, and raised its full-year revenue guidance by $200 million.

Latest Status

As of Wednesday afternoon, Salesforce confirmed its global services had been restored following the technical outage. The company warned that some customers may still experience residual issues. Salesforce said it would continue monitoring system performance and providing updates through its status page.
