Spider-Man: Brand New Day topped the North American box office for a sixth consecutive weekend, pushing its domestic total to roughly $923 million and moving the film within about $14 million of the all-time domestic record.

The Sony and Marvel release earned an estimated $22 million to $23 million over the four-day Labor Day weekend, according to studio estimates cited by Variety and Deadline.

That performance keeps Brand New Day on pace to pass Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ unadjusted domestic record of $936.6 million, set in 2015, with the gap now under $15 million.

Fastest to $900 Million

The film crossed $900 million domestically on Friday, doing so in 36 days. That is faster than the 50 days Force Awakens needed to reach the same mark in 2015.

Brand New Day is now only the second movie to reach $900 million domestically without adjusting for inflation.

Six Weekends at No. 1

Brand New Day has now led the domestic box office for six straight weekends, the longest streak atop the chart since Avatar: The Way of Water spent seven weekends at No. 1 in 2022.

Sony and Marvel opened the film on July 31 with the biggest domestic debut ever, a $360 million three-day weekend that surpassed Avengers: Endgame’s previous record.

Global Total Passes $2.4 Billion

Worldwide, Brand New Day has earned more than $2.4 billion, ranking third all time behind Avatar’s $2.9 billion and Avengers: Endgame’s roughly $2.8 billion.

The film passed Avatar: The Way of Water’s lifetime global total of about $2.32 billion in late August.

Despite its domestic strength, Brand New Day finished behind Universal’s The Odyssey at the global box office over the Labor Day weekend, as Christopher Nolan’s film added an eighth-weekend haul of about $17 million domestically while continuing to perform strongly overseas.

Weak Competition From New Releases

Two new wide releases failed to challenge Brand New Day for the top spot over Labor Day weekend.

Paramount’s crime thriller By Any Means, starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, opened in fourth place with an estimated $9.1 million through Monday.

A24’s Onslaught, starring Adria Arjona and directed by Adam Wingard, debuted further down the chart with about $2.3 million through the holiday and a C grade on CinemaScore.

David A. Gross, who publishes the box office newsletter FranchiseRe, said ‘We haven’t had a down weekend like this in a long time.’

Path to the Record

With roughly $923 million in North America through Labor Day, Brand New Day needs about $14 million more to pass The Force Awakens’ domestic mark.

At its current pace, box office trackers expect the film to overtake the record within the next one to two weekends.

The film remains part of a strong 2026 summer box office season, with domestic ticket sales for the season totaling more than $4.6 billion through early September, according to Rentrak data, marking the strongest summer for theaters since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo.
