Bigg Boss 20 contestant Aasif Khan opened up about his deep love for his mother and wife during a heartfelt conversation with fellow contestant Amrapali Dubey, offering viewers a personal glimpse into his family values. The Panchayat actor, who entered the Salman Khan-hosted reality show on September 6, spoke candidly about the unmatched place his mother holds in his life while also expressing profound respect for his wife’s sacrifices.
No love like a mother’s love
Speaking to Amrapali Dubey about family and relationships, Aasif said he believes a mother’s love is incomparable. ‘Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki duniya mein maa jaisa pyaar koi bhi nahi kar sakta,’ he said, sharing that, for him, there is no love in the world quite like a mother’s love. He explained that, for him, no other form of love compares to the affection a mother gives her child.
Commitment to his wife
Aasif also spoke about his bond with his wife Zeba, whom he married on December 10, 2024. He said he often tells her she can ask anything of him, even his life, and shared that if she ever needed both his kidneys, he would give them to her. At the same time, he made it clear that he does not believe he should ever have to choose between his wife and his mother.
Respect for women and marriage
One of the more significant parts of the conversation was Aasif’s thoughts on what women give up when they get married. He explained that he has told his mother that a woman leaves her parents’ home after marriage and begins a new life with her husband and his family. Talking about his own wife, Aasif said he has immense respect for her because she left her father’s home and everything she knew to begin a new life with him. He believes this transition represents a significant sacrifice and that every woman who makes this transition deserves love, understanding and respect. His comments reflected his belief that love for a mother and love for a wife do not have to compete with each other, and both relationships deserve respect.
Emotional moment with Salman Khan
Earlier in the week, Aasif had an emotional moment with host Salman Khan when he recalled his first job as a junior artist in the song ‘Dhinka Chika’ from Salman’s 2011 film Ready. ‘I came to Bombay 16 years ago. You were a part of the movie Ready, and the song was ‘Dhinka Chika’. The car stops at the signal. There were a lot of juniors standing behind the bus. In that song, I was with my friends,’ Aasif recalled. He revealed that the song marked his first work in the industry. ‘It was my first work in my life. I was a junior artist,’ he said, adding that the moment of sharing the Bigg Boss stage with Salman years later was particularly emotional for his family. ‘This is a very special moment for my mother. I would like to tell her that this is me, Aasif Firdous Khan with Salman Khan in the front row,’ he said as he choked with emotion.
Background and Bigg Boss entry
Aasif Khan, 35, was born on March 13, 1991, in Nimbahera, Rajasthan. His late father, Ayyub Khan, worked at JK Cement, while his mother, Firdous Khan, is a homemaker. He moved to Mumbai and took up different jobs to support himself, including working as a waiter and in a hotel kitchen, before training in theatre in Jaipur and eventually pursuing acting. He is best known for his role as Ganesh, the memorable ‘damad ji’, in the comedy-drama series Panchayat, and has also appeared in Mirzapur, Paatal Lok and Jamtara. His dialogue ‘Gajab beizzati hai’ from Panchayat became a popular meme template. Interestingly, Aasif had previously indicated that Bigg Boss was not his ‘taste’, having turned down an offer in 2022. In a 2024 interview, he had said he has a strong ‘allergy’ to what he called ‘off-camera acting’. Despite his past reservations, he is now one of the 16 contestants in the Bigg Boss 20 house, which premiered on September 6.
Aasif’s conversation with Amrapali offered viewers a perspective that went beyond the usual discussions surrounding tasks, nominations and competition inside the Bigg Boss house. While he continues his journey inside the house, moments like these are allowing audiences to know more about the person behind the contestant.
