Keke Wyatt Arrested in Georgia on Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and Child Cruelty Charges
R&B singer Keke Wyatt was arrested in Henry County, Georgia, on September 20 and booked on three charges, including terroristic threats, simple assault and cruelty to children, according to a representative for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
The 44-year-old singer, whose full legal name is Ke’Tara Shavon Wyatt Darring, was released two days later after posting a $1,050 bond, the sheriff’s office confirmed. Booking records list the child cruelty charge as a third-degree witness offense.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ that Wyatt was taken into custody on September 20 and processed at the Henry County Jail. She remained in custody until September 22, when she posted bond.
Some reports have described the assault charge as aggravated assault, a felony, while the sheriff’s office initially cited simple assault. The discrepancy has not been clarified by authorities, and booking records do not provide a detailed account of the alleged incident.
Under Georgia law, third-degree cruelty to children applies when a person who is the primary aggressor allows a child under 18 to witness a forcible felony, battery or family-violence battery, or commits such an act knowing the child can see or hear it. The arrest brings renewed attention to a 2002 assault case involving Wyatt’s then-husband and manager, Rahmat Morton. A Kentucky grand jury indicted Wyatt on second-degree assault after Morton was stabbed during a Christmas Day 2001 domestic dispute.
Police said Morton had wounds to his chest, arms and hands, and that part of a knife blade had to be removed from his back. The case was later dismissed. Wyatt said she acted in self-defense and has spoken publicly about experiencing domestic abuse.
‘It was a sad situation, and I wanted to protect my kids,’ Wyatt told Essence in a previous interview.
