Taylor Swift attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game as Travis Kelce’s wife on Monday, September 14, watching from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium as the tight end made NFL history in the team’s season opener against the Denver Broncos.

Swift, 36, was spotted alongside actor Tom Cruise in a VIP box during the Monday Night Football broadcast. The game marked her first appearance at Arrowhead since marrying Kelce on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Kelce Passes Jason Witten on All-Time Receiving List

Kelce, 36, caught a short pass from Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter and ran 59 yards, overtaking Jason Witten for the second-most receiving yards by a tight end in NFL history.

He finished the game with three catches for 71 yards as the Chiefs defeated the Broncos 31-10 in Mahomes’ first game back in nine months. Kelce now has 13,067 career receiving yards, trailing only Tony Gonzalez, who holds the record with 15,127 yards.

Video shared on social media showed Swift celebrating the historic play from her suite. The Chiefs’ official X account posted footage of Kelce arriving at the stadium wearing his wedding ring before the game.

Tom Cruise Joins Swift in Suite

Tom Cruise sat beside Swift during the game, and the two were photographed in conversation throughout the broadcast. Cruise was among the guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in July.

Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift, Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce and mother Donna Kelce were also in the suite. Donna Kelce wore a red Chiefs jersey for the occasion.

Swift wore a red-and-white checkered top and was seen playing with her wedding ring during the game. Her engagement ring, an old mine cut diamond by Kindred Lubeck, was also visible.

Swift Chooses Chiefs Over Emmys

Swift’s appearance at the game came on the same night as the 78th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. She was nominated as a producer and performer for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, which received five nominations at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 5.

The concert film lost in all five categories. In the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category, it lost to Disney+’s The Muppet Show.

Despite skipping the ceremony, Swift made a surprise appearance in a pretaped sketch with Mariska Hargitay during the Emmy broadcast. In the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit parody, Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson investigated whether Swift would attend the Emmys.

Kelce’s Future Remains Uncertain

Kelce is playing the 2026 season on a one-year contract after reworking his deal in the offseason. He has said he has no plans to retire after the season but has acknowledged speculation about his future.

I want to keep playing until the wheels fall off, I always say, Kelce told Good Morning America recently. I still have the desire to go out there and compete, and I still think I can compete at a high level.

Swift has attended 32 Chiefs games since the couple went public with their relationship in 2023. Kansas City has a 24-8 record in those games.

The Chiefs next play the Indianapolis Colts on September 20. It has not been announced whether Swift will attend.
