Twiggy Documentary Set for Digital Release After Los Angeles Premiere and 77th Birthday

The documentary ‘Twiggy,’ directed by Sadie Frost, will be released on VOD platforms and on DVD in the United States on September 22, 2026, following a Los Angeles premiere on September 16 and Twiggy’s 77th birthday on September 19.

The film had its LA premiere on September 16 at the Lumiere Cinema in Beverly Hills. Twiggy attended alongside director Sadie Frost. The event drew several high-profile guests, including Hugh Jackman, Dustin Hoffman, Ringo Starr, Barbara Bach, and Twiggy’s husband Leigh Lawson.

The documentary features contributions from Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney, Dustin Hoffman, Brooke Shields, Joanna Lumley, Charlotte Tilbury, Sienna Miller, and others. It explores Twiggy’s upbringing, career, relationships, and her rise from a working-class London teenager to a global cultural icon.

Sadie Frost said in a statement: ‘After my debut documentary on the iconic fashion designer Mary Quant, I wanted to dive deeper into the era and cultural figures who paved the way for how fashion evolved. Twiggy was a working-class London girl who against all odds took on the world, changing the look of women – both in society and fashion – forever. She is an integral part of British culture and before she had turned 17, she had already ascended into an international phenomenon. After a successful international run, I am delighted to now bring the film to a US audience.’

Twiggy added: ‘I’m so thrilled that the Twiggy documentary directed by Sadie Frost is now to be released in the USA. I’m over the moon at the international reception we’ve received for the film and can’t wait for its launch in America.’

Cleopatra Entertainment acquired North American distribution rights to the documentary. The film previously played at festivals in London, Rio, Sydney, Dublin, and Dinard.

In the week before her birthday, Twiggy received the ‘Style Icon’ award at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York on September 11. She also appeared on CNN on September 9 to discuss the documentary and her multigenerational impact on fashion.

Earlier in 2026, Twiggy was announced as the face of Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2026 campaign, photographed by Daniel Lee. It was her first time modeling for the British fashion house. She attended Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2026 show in September 2025 at Kensington Palace Gardens.

Twiggy, born Lesley Hornby on September 19, 1949, rose to fame as a teenage model in the 1960s. She was dubbed ‘The Face of 1966’ by the Daily Express and became one of the first supermodels. She later expanded her career as a singer and actress, earning two Golden Globe Awards and a Tony Award nomination. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2019.

In a 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Twiggy reflected on her early fame: ‘I was so young when it happened to me. I hadn’t even thought about a career. I was still at school. My vague ambition was to become a fashion designer, as I loved making my own clothes. But then the world had other ideas.’

The documentary ‘Twiggy’ is scheduled for release on VOD and DVD on September 22, 2026. Special screenings took place in New York and Los Angeles ahead of the digital release.
