WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The event will take place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The card features four matches, including two championship defenses.

The show is a revival of the classic WWE special that aired on NBC in the 1980s and early 1990s. This is the second modern edition of the event, following a December 2024 broadcast from San Antonio, Texas.

Full Match Card

WWE has announced four matches for the broadcast. The lineup includes title defenses, a singles match, and a women’s division contest.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will defend his title against Kevin Owens. The match was made official after Owens attacked Rhodes on the January 10 episode of SmackDown.

World Heavyweight Champion Gunther will defend his title against Jey Uso. Uso earned the title shot after winning a number one contender’s match on Raw.

Rhea Ripley will face Nia Jax in a singles match. Ripley returned to WWE television earlier in January after a brief absence.

Logan Paul will compete against Rey Mysterio in a singles match. The two previously faced each other at WWE Crown Jewel in November 2024, where Paul won.

Broadcast Details

The event will air on NBC as a two-hour special. Peacock will also carry the live stream for subscribers in the United States.

International viewers can watch the show on WWE’s broadcast partners, including the WWE Network in most countries outside the U.S. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET with a pre-show starting at 7 p.m. ET on WWE’s social media channels.

Building the Card

The Rhodes and Owens rivalry has escalated since December 2024. Owens has repeatedly attacked Rhodes and has claimed that Rhodes betrayed him during their time in AEW.

Jey Uso won a tournament on Raw to become the number one contender for Gunther’s title. Uso defeated Drew McIntyre in the final round on January 20.

Ripley and Jax have a history that includes a match at WWE Elimination Chamber in February 2024. Ripley won that encounter to retain the Women’s World Championship.

Logan Paul and Rey Mysterio have been feuding since Paul cost Mysterio a match on Raw in January. Paul has also targeted Mysterio’s son, Dominik Mysterio, during recent episodes.

What to Expect

WWE has not announced any additional matches for the show. The broadcast will likely feature interviews and video packages to build storylines for the upcoming Royal Rumble event on February 1, 2024.

Ticket sales for the Yuengling Center event have continued through January. The venue has a seating capacity of approximately 10,500 for WWE events.

The January 28 edition will serve as a lead-in to the Royal Rumble week of programming. WrestleMania 41 is scheduled for April 19 and 20, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
